Programs and Admissions  

Each year the School’s Academic Board reviews and adopts the educational plan for the school year for all disciplines. Entrance examinations for prospective students for the Art school take place in June and August.

2009-2010 Academic School Year

Piano – 154 pupils are enrolled in the piano department. Pupils work with teachers two terms to become proficient on four individual works. At the end of the first term, students must pass a mandatory proficiency exam. At the end of the academic school year, pupils perform a recital and a solo proficiency performance.

Violin – 10 pupils are enrolled in the violin department. At the end of the first term, students must pass a mandatory proficiency exam. At the end of the academic school year, the best pupils perform a recital and all must perform for solo evaluation.

Wind Instruments – 6 pupils are enrolled in this department.

Traditional Folk Instruments – 16 pupils are enrolled in this department. To promote the learning of traditional Armenian folk instruments, students enrolled in this discipline attend classes free of charge.

Dance – Pupils enrolled in the Dance classes study four kinds of dances- classical dance, characteristic dance, Armenian national dance and modern dance.

Vocal – 15 pupils study voice and vocal arts. As part of their lessons, they participate in the Vanadzor Art School Choir. They perform songs of various composers. The Choir completes the Academic year with a concert.

Alumni
Each year approximately 35 pupils graduate from the Vanadzor Art school. Currently, several of our graduates are studying at the Music College named after M. Tavrizian. These students are Suzan Sukiasian, Kristine Hakobian, Ani Hambardzumian, Tatevik Avetikian. Anna and Alla Sakanians are studying in the violin department. After graduating from the Music College these students will most likely continue their education at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.

Sophia Shaboyan, Sirvard Aghazarian, Marina Hoveyan are currently students of the piano department at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.

Ovsanna Alecksanian is a conducting her post graduate study at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory in Concert Piano.

At present some of our graduates work in the Art School as teachers. They are Irina Danielian, Marine Grigorian, Nara Melickian, Emilya Grigorian, Narine Madoian.
